Kansas City Food Photography & Styling Workshop

By Helene Dujardin Photography (other events)

2 Dates Through Oct 15, 2011

ABOUT ABOUT
Whether you own a point & shoot or a dSLR this workshop will help you improve or refresh your food photography by covering the basics, the essentials and the specifics we all need to practice. Principles of photography apply to your eyes, your brain and your constant practice of the craft.

This workshop will cover the following points:
- how to work with natural light and shadows not only to light your shot appropriately but also to help you set a mood or tell a story. You will learn how to incorporate them into your frame to add depth and texture to your composition.
- composition and styling: basic composition guidelines and techniques
- natural food styling and tips and techniques you can do at home.
- live demo of how to style, compose and shoot a couple of "tricky" dishes such as spreads and dips
- artificial light: learn the basics of speedlight, studio lights, and some simple solutions on the go.

Please bring the following:
Your camera, tripod (optional), laptop (optional)
Lunch/snacks/drinks
A dish you've had trouble photographing in the past so we can work on what troubles you the most together
A small selection of your favorite props (linens, plates, silverware...anything you want to play with)
